Post-Course Practices
It is essential that you practice learned skills after your course as soon as possible, so you won't forget them.
Our chief instructor Xiaoping took a weekend course on top rope anchor setting in the spring of 1994. Due to weather and climbing partner issues, he went out to climb two months later. Standing by the cliff, he was completely lost. Fortunately his new climbing partner was experienced and helped to bring back his memory of learned skills.
To assist your post-course practice, we provide you with the following options:
Zen Climbers Meetup Group
We have set up a Meetup group www.meetup.com/Zen-Climbers for you to connect with previous graduates of your course to climb and practice learned skills for free. By receiving support and companionship from those graduates, you agree to reciprocate forward by making yourself available to climb with future course graduates.
Practice-In-Class (for Top Rope Anchor Setting only)
When we offer the Introductory Outdoor Rock Climbing course or the Introductory Rock Climbing and Rappelling course, graduates of Top Rope Anchor Setting courses can join us to practice setting up top rope anchors. Our course instructor, while not available to monitor your setting up process, will inspect your final setup and give feedback. The inspected setup may be used by climbers in the course to climb on. You will need to check our Calendar to look for one of the two courses to register. Registration fee is $15+HST per person.
Refreshers:
1. Standby Status: Let us know that you would like to be put on a standby status for you to participate in a course as a refresher with a 48-hour notice. This way, when we offer a course you would like to refresh, if we have space available, we will notify you by email 48 hours before the course starts, so you may choose to register to take this course again as a refresher at 15% of its regular course fee.
2. Register and pay 39% of the regular course fee to repeat your course on a day of your choice as long as an instructor is available.
3. Join our pre-scheduled refresher course and and pay 30% of the regular course fee.
To register for a refresher, simply go to the original course page to fill the registration form and add a note to indicate that it is a refresher.
