Traditional Lead Climbing with Multi-pitch Option

This course provides you a solid foundation in risk management practices in all aspects of traditional lead climbing in a single pitch setting, plus the option of learning and practicing multi-pitch climbing.

If you're well prepared for the course, e.g. you have read books and watched videos on trad climbing, seconded others in trad climbing, practiced placing trad gears, or even mock led with trad gear, you will have the mental capacity to add the learning of multi-pitch climbing to this two-day course.  We won't charge you extra when all learnings are done in the scheduled hours.

You will cover a wide range of subjects from equipment, gear placement, movement skills to anchor setting, belay station setup, leading strategies, belaying and rappelling, problems solving (simple self-rescue techniques), and estimating the forces involved in falling and anchor setting.

Learning by doing.  You will practice and receive feedback from your instructor.

Upon completing the course, you will have the skills to lead single pitch climbs, or even multi-pitch climbs!  The skills you will have gained from this course will prepare you to further advance your climbing progression to multi-pitch alpine climbing.

"Taking the traditional Lead Climbing course with Xiaoping enabled me to critically evaluate gear placement and the building of anchor systems.  In addition, knowing that Xiaoping has been professionally evaluated by AMGA has given me peace of mind that he is competent and his advice is based on accredited standards.  Thank you!" -- Matthew Meadows, Barrie, Ontario
