1. Spring Meetup Report: Chief Instructor Xiaoping hosted free meetup events for graduates of Top Rope Anchor Setting course, Sport Lead Climbing course and Traditional Lead Climbing course. In total, 36 attendants.  A technical refreshing/reviewing session was built into each event with attendants contributing and sharing safety practices.  Attendants found these sessions timely helpful!

2. Making Local Climbing Safer: During a Top Rope Anchor Setting course conducted last year, our clients - while practising learned safety techniques -- identified that a bolt was set in a loose rock on top of the West Cliff at Rattlesnake Point. Chief Instructor Xiaoping notified the this safety issue to the Conservation,  Ontario Access Coalition and Alpine Club Canada (Toronto), who are the good people involved in setting and maintaining the bolts. Thanks to continuous effort from all parties, this bolt has been decommissioned, locked off by a big red lock. Also, we have learned that from now on, the annual bolt inspection in the Conservation will include evaluations of rock stability. Zen Climb is proud that its teaching of safety practices has helped to make climbing safer at Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area.

3. New Instructor Deryl: After completing Zen Climb's Top Rope Rock Climbing Instructor process, Deryl Jean Hunt has taught introductory courses and won praises from clients!

4. Zen Climb Offers Courses In Squamish: Raz Peel who completed Zen Climb's Top Rope Rock Climbing Instructor process and taught with Zen Climb last year, has recently been accredited through the ACMG as a Top-Rope Climbing Instructor. Now, he is offering Zen Climb courses in Squamish just outside Vancouver!

5. 2-for-1 Special Offer: All attendants to the Introductory Rock Climbing and Rappelling course conducted in Squamish in June 2013 will need to pay for 1 person's fee for 2 people. Share this news with your friends!

6. Youth Summer Camp: Zen Climb will conduct its first Youth Summer Camp on July 29 to August 2, 2013, at Rattlesnake Point.  Age range: 12-17. We can accept 3 more campers.

7. Zen Climb Gear Packages: Zen Climb has designed gear packages for trad climbers to purchase from Outland Adventure Gear at 10% discount from comparable market pricing.

8. Meetup Participants Insurance: The meetup events for Zen Climbers (Zen Climb course graduates) are independent from Zen Climb and not covered by Zen Climb's insurance.  They are of recreational (non-commercial and non-instructional) nature, participated by people with shared common interest.

Before you participate or host a meetup event, you may want to check that your tenant content insurance policy (if you're a renter) or your home insurance policy includes liability coverage.  Such coverage (often $1M) is usually automatically included with no additional fee, or can be added by paying additional amount (e.g. $25) per year.  Worldwide, it covers accidental injuries you cause to others, such as accidently knocking off someone's tooth when swinging a golf club in Florida.
