How To Improvise Self Rock Rescue | Multi-pitch & Alpine Climbing

Improvised Self Rock Rescue

Improvised self rescue techniques are mostly used by climbers to get themselves and their climbing partners out of tough situations such as: seconding climber fell off a diaganoal route or couldn't get over a roof section of the climb; belayer was seriously injured by falling rocks in a multi-pitch climb; and more.

Statistically, such a situation will inevitably be encountered by a long-time climber who will either be the part of or a witness of the situation.

Being prepared and competent with improvised self rescue techniques will help you save yourself or your climbing partner(s), or enable you to help a climbing party in trouble.

This course is offered in two independent sub-courses due to the many techniques involved and the complexity of some procedures.

1. Basic Improvised Self Rescue: Designed for climbers who top rope, sport or trad lead single pitch routes.

2. Advanced Improvised Self Rescue: Designed for multi-pitch and alpine rock climbing.

You can choose to take one or both sub-courses based on your needs and readiness.

You will learn a wide ranges of techniques, using various devices, for lowering, rappelling, ascending, pulling, escaping belay and problem solving, as well as, assessing situations to choose the best option to get you and your climbing partner(s) out of tough situations safely and quickly.
